Something close to my heart.
I have 5 beautiful children, 4 have Autism. My oldest is a teenager now so this program wont help him.
Cordelia and Angelina (4 yrs old) currently receive 400 hours per year Early Intervention. I can see the difference it has made to their speech and development over the past 8 months. Sadly the teachers still think it isnt enough and the girls will have to attend special school instead of normal school. Its not that they dont have the potential to develop language and attend normal state primary school like any other child. They are just not progressing fast enough.
Jacob (2 yrs old) starts Early Intervention this year. He will have 80 hours a year until he turns 3, then he will go to 400 hours a year. Becauses he accesses this 80 hours a year (2 hours a week) he will not be allowed any speech therapy or physiotherapy from the government hospital system. He needs both and I cant afford private therapy.
1000 Hours is a campaign to lobby government to fund a minimum of 1000 Hours of Early Intervention per annum for 2 years for every pre-school child with autism.
There are around 40,000 people with ASD (Autistic Spectrum Disorder) in Australia and the number is increasing at around 2,000 per year. Each person with ASD has family members: parents, siblings, etc. who are affected by their ASD. We need to send a strong message to the Government. The more people sign up, then the stronger the message to Government.

For security reasons we do not have pick up at our home. I am more than happy to meet at the local shopping center or another place for pick up so you can save on postage. I try and be flexable and dont mind working this out.
