We frequently ship internationally and to help clarify import duties and fees we are posting this extremely helpful information.
This link is a UK website and it contains a great explanation about the UK's duties and fees and how they relate to purchases made on eBay.
http://www.sloanefox.freeserve.co.uk/importukduty.htm This has a lot of useful general information about how customs duties and fees work and why you may be charged them. For information specific to your country you should contact your countries customs office.
It is standard for the Buyer to assume the cost of duties and fees and this is eBay’s policy page that refers to this: http://pages.ebay.com/help/pay/ship-internationally.html
Even though it is the Buyer’s responsibility to pay any duties and fees their country charges on incoming merchandise we still try to help make them aware of this possibility and responsibility. Each of our listings contains this disclosure:
"International Bidders:
We welcome international business (on select items) but will only put accurate information on customs forms. Any duty or taxes charged by your government or postal service is your responsibility. International overseas winners, please contact us for a shipping & handling price before paying. Thanks!"
eBay encourages Buyers to read listings carefully prior to any purchasing/bidding. The information in our listings is one of the only ways that we, as Sellers, have to convey important information such as this to our Buyers.
The shipping that you are charged by us only covers the shipping charges that we pay to ship your item. If you will look at the postage price printed on your packages address/custom form, you will see that this is, in fact, the case.
You may be charged customs fees by your postal service depending on your country and the value of the item. Unfortunately, that is just not something we are able to control as we are required by law to indicate the selling price of the item on the customs label. The fees are then determined and charged by your government and customs in your country (not by us as a seller or by eBay or by the United States.). eBay also has very strict policies about falsifying customs forms and here is the link to that policy: http://pages.ebay.com/help/policies/encouraging-illegal-activity.html
However, if you do receive your item and feel that your were charged unduly by customs in your country and need us to verify the purchase price/shipping charges that your paid please don’t hesitate to have them contact us and we will be happy to do so.
We hope that this clarified these fees for you.
We really want you to be happy with your purchase and our service …if you need further assistance or still have concerns, please don’t hesitate to contact us.
Thank you so much...have a fabulous day! :)
