Like every other kid growing up in the 70's, I collected footy cards. Unlike every other kid, I also collected cereal toys, matchboxes, cigar boxes, cars, figurines, games and just about anything else that came along.
Where I was lucky, was that, aside from a moment of madness when I was 14 where I gave away a packing chest full of goodies, most of my collection stayed with me and somehow survived the classic "mum" clean out.
Then in the late 80's I came across someone selling old footy cards at a market. I bought a few, and having rekindled a dormant passion, went back the next week and cleaned the guy out, as well as quiet a few others over the next year or 2.
The platform was laid, and when ebay came along, it opened up a great communication and trading link between the many people like me and you - passionate collectors.
You might find my website interesting - I have articles and lots of pictures of footy cards, and of course, Australia's first and only Online Card Grading Guide. Grading has always been important to me, so it made sense to consult dozens of dealers and hobbyists across Australia, and build a resource anyone can use.
