In case you haven't solved the above riddle, My Name is Noel Miller, ok you see that on my title, but I thought I would tell you again.I live in Melbourne Australia, which is, well I think, the best city in Australia.  Surrounded by parks and beautiful landscapes, well it would be if the loggers would stop cutting down our trees, C’mon guys, do we really need to cut down 300 year old trees to make wood chips for Japan !!!!
Ok, so now you have guessed, I am a keen environmentalist. Got to love the beauty of Nature and leave it alone. I am also anti war, anti violence, a humanitarian, and  passionate about saving the poor of the world, from the greed of the West. Aye, there is enough for everyone, lets share a bit more..  Since a very young age, I have had a dream of playing a part,  in the eradication of poverty. The world is such a dark and lonely place, one wonders how one can help, but, the dream is still alive, and in the furure, with the help of music, I believe I can play a part.....
Ok, enough of the politics, what about me you ask ?

My  greatest joy, is music. Music “Without music, life is a journey through a desert
I love all music, and watching musicians perform. One of the great joys in my business, is having musicians come and try out  instruments, and finding what they are looking for.

My greatest joy in music, is classical and romantic, though, I enjoy modern music as well. I was classically trained on the violin, and also played bassoon for a while. Dam, that’s a hard instrument to play. I love concerts, the symphony, theatre, live shows, and more music. Music, that tells a story, makes you cry, makes you laugh and happy. lifts you when you are down, motivates you, relaxes you.
Reading is also a great joy, but alas, I have little time for it nowdays.
Traveling is also agreat joy in my life. Can never see enough of the world, it places, its people and cultures. One of the great benefits of my business is the opportunity to travel, and meet people from all over the world. Places to see in the future, Russia, got close to there, but ran out of time, well it was my daughters birthday, so I had to fly back in time to see her, Africa , Sth America, and the Antartica, the last contiment, we haven't destroyed.

I have 3 wonderful children, Lisa, Samantha, and Dennis, whome I love very much, and don’t see enough of them, well they live with their mother. You know how it is ….
5 Years ago, after getting a divorce, I decided I wanted a change in life, hmmm perhaps a mid life!, and concentrated all my energy on my greatest passion, the violin and music, so I started Jouelline Strings. I have been collecting violins since I was 12 or 13, when I would busk at the local train station, to collect enough money, to go around the junk shops looking for old violins. I still cant help it, every time I pick up an old violin, perhaps up to 300 years old, and just hold it in my hands, close my eyes, and wonder who has played it over all these years, who made it, what was the makers life like, where has it been, what concerts has it performed in. Ok, so I’m an old romantic, lol

I am a very passionate person, dedicated to my work, dedicated to my beliefs, and my dreams. I believe we can all make a difference, we can all attain our dreams, we can all reach our goals, if we just dare to dream, and follow those dreams, we can all make a difference.

RISK
To laugh is to risk appearing the fool.
To weep is to risk appearing sentimental.
To reach out for another is to risk involvement.
To expose your true feelings is to risk exposing
 your true self.
To place your ideas before a crowd is to risk
 their loss.
To love is to risk not being loved in return.
To live is to risk dying.
To try is to risk failure.
To hope is to risk despair.
But risk must be taken - because the greatest
hazard in life is to risk nothing.
The person that risks nothing, does nothing, is
 nothing.
You may avoid suffering and sorrow
, but you
 cannot learn, feel, change, love.
Chained by your certitudes, you are a slave; you
 have forfeited your freedom.
Only if you risk can you be free.
It costs so much to be a full human being, that
there are very few who have the enlightenment or the
 courage to pay the price.
One has to abandon altogether the search for
security and reach out to the risk of living with
 both arms.
One has to embrace the world as a lover.
One has to accept the pain as a condition of
 existence.
One has to court doubt and darkness as the cost
 of knowing

Jouelline Strings

Jouelline Strings, has grown from a lonely New Years Eve night 5 years ago, when I decided I wanted to start this business. In the years before my divorce, I had lost my dream, and stopped playing the violin. My greatest passsion is to find an old violin, and to bring it back to life, let it sing once again. I had, plenty of old violins, some of which I had started to repair, over 20 years previously.  Armed with a few tools, some old violins, a 1886 Grand Piano, which just sits in my front room, because I don’t have time to play it, lol, and some help from my good friend Vincent, who has been a violin maker for nearly 30 years.  some old vilins I had been collecting for years and a passion I stayed up into the early hours on my own, setting up 2 new student violins, I had bought, which I was to sell on Ebay in the following weeks. From there it has grown and grown, with no written plan, Just a dream, of supplying high quality stringed instruments, at the most affordable prices available anywhere. The dream, is to be able to give every child throughout the world, no matter rich or poor, the opportunity to learn music, on affordable instruments, that work, play in tune, and have good tonal qualities. I am happy to say, as I live and breathe, I am fulfilling that dream.
But it hasn’t been easy, oh no ! There have been ups and downs, like any other business. I remember a few years ago, I got my first full container of instruments in, I was so excited, jumping up and down. It was due to arrive at 6am, I got there at 5 am, couldn’t sleep. Armed with my new heavy duty bolt cutters, I eagerly awaited its arrival, pacing up and down, waiting, waiting…. It arrived, the truck backed in, 300 violins, 80 cellos, and 10 basses, I was excited, pumped
I approached the truck, bolt cutters in toe, wearing my King Gee demins, any tougher and they would rust, savouring the moment, wanting to open the doors as fast as I could, but not wanting the moment to end,  but, wanted to get my hands on all my new instruments, new members of my family,

I flexed my arms, muscles tight, stomach warm, pulse low, do it right in drill, do it right in life, I had preplayed this moment a 1000 times, I cut the seal, releasing my built up expectation and excitement, I strained, with all my might, I puller the rusted doors, not moving, I grunted, thought of Sampson, as he pushed the pillars, power and force, the doors moved, slowly, metal straining against metal, they moved a little, then, as with Mt Saint Helen, the doors swung open, with an eruption
I fell back, as cartons of wet instruments flowed from the container, I fell to the ground, and  made a fatal yuppy error, I snorted,  Fumigation powder  and wet fungus went deep into my nasal glands. i coughed and sputted like a wounded pig.....

I was devastated, the whole container was soaked, violins fell apart
I cried ( don’t tell anyone though, men are not meant to cry lol )

Well, we learnt some valuable lessons there……….

From there, oh yes, with a few more problems along the way, I now have a factory, well 1 and a half, and carry a full range of stringed instruments, their bows and strings, from student level, to professional solo quality violins.

Largo Australia

Largo Australia has been an expansion, when in China, a few years ago, I met up with some professional musicians, who in partnership with some manufacturing companies were developing a fine range of brass and woodwind musical instruments. From there I joined the partnership, and together with some musicians here in Australia, and a lot of hard work, time and money, we have developed the Largo Australia range of brass and woodwind instruments. The focus of this exercise, has been to be able to offer a full range of brass and woodwind instruments, at an affordable price, without compromising in quality, tone, and intonation. We have now achieved this goal, and are constantly working to improve, where ever we can.

Where to now

One of my projects this year, in parnership with some firends in the music industry, is to start some musical groups for children who for varius reasons, dont have the oppertunity to learn an instrument. We will have our first group going within the next few months, using my factory as a venue to pratice in, and providing the instruments for the kids to use. We will then be trying to start other groups in Australia, and next year, we hope to do the same in Asia. Where to now,to be able to give kids the world over, no matter rich or poor, or where they come from the oppertunity to learn music, on instruments that have good tonal qualities and play in tune and most importantly, at a price affordable by all. Every child should have the chance to experience one of lifes greatest pleasures MUSIC Plans are under way, to build my own factory in china, run by my own staff, to totally control quality. Recently, I have taken on the Full range of the Franz Sandner line of instruments. This is a Germany company, which began in 1924 in Schoenbach Germany making violins. they now manufacture in Germany, Tiawan and China, making all stringed instruments, woodwind and piano's. Jouelline Strings is now the exclusive distributor of all their range, for Both New Zealand and Australia. Come visit my web page
