My story

I am a devoted dad and husband in proverbial Norman Rockwell middle America. My town has less than 500 folks which is a good thing since my 5 year old son, Isaac, tends to wander off, and everyone in town knows where he belongs. He's got Down syndrome so he doesn't communicate as well as other 5 year olds and sometimes thinks of doing unusual things, like flushing deodrant down the toilet. He's fast, silent, and unpredictable, indicating the need for constant supervision (yeah, like that can happen!!). So, when you buy from me, a portion of each sale goes to the disabled, and also his highly intelligent sister, George.

My Addiction

My wife (usually) patiently allows me to spend my Saturday mornings scouring the plains of Illinois for great deals in garage sales and auctions. It seems as if I specialize in "lots" as I find myself with collections of advertising pens, license plates, and snack sets to name a few. It's just so darned exciting to find out what all is in the bottom of a box! I had started finding things I liked (especially milk bottles) on eBay and realized I could contribute similar finds from my auction and garage sale escapades. Naturally in a small town, word gets out, and I've had friends ask me to close out some of their parents' vintage items. "Vintage" is my new favorite word. We recently had a new garage built, under the pretext of allowing my little dove to park her vehicle in it. More importantly, I am able to store the great inventory I find (since the basement was already full). On occasion, she has been able to actually park in it. Ebay has been great help in keeping my marriage strong. The more things I can get off our property and to the post office, the happier my wife becomes. I am still able to peruse the bounty of discarded treasure, but she knows I'll be sending it off eventually! An added bonus is that our postmaster likes the boost in business I provide. In my spare time, I'm a cop.
