At The Perpetual Reader books we’re fanatical about books, you see we’re passionate about them and we’d like to share that avid interest with you…

 

We deal principally in 20th Century Modern 1st Editions, we purchase domestically as well as abroad and specialise in Estate, Personal Library and Collection sales. 

 

Although we’re very young “antiquarian book dealers” our view is long term, you benefit from the experience of Lancelot Quartermaine and a field of mentors who collectively have experience of well over 100 years we’re members of the Australian Society of Book Collectors (established in 1944) and longer term our aim will be, joining the ranks of Antiquarian Booksellers and becoming members of ILAB (International League of Antiquarian Booksellers) and ANZAAB (Australian and New Zealand Association of Antiquarian Booksellers.)

 

Our ethos is that books are crafted works of art, objects of beauty and deservingly cherished, we believe that when you buy or invest in a book you’re not only purchasing a work of art that is visually attractive but holding something tactile…. books to us are alive, useful, pieces of history…in short….books are our passion.

 

 

We offer a selection of choices and different graded books from MINT and FINE through to POOR catering to a wide range of budget and tastes.  These may be for example, Golden Cockerel Press offerings to Charles Dickens, Ian Fleming, William Golding, and Anthony Burgess through to a modern cult author such as Bret Easton Ellis.

 

All books are graded as accurately as possible, however grading from one book dealer to another is a very subjective area and where there is a difference on quality and “points” we err on the side of caution and act in the interests of our clientele, we’re confident that a satisfying purchase is not only pleasurable to both parties but also rewards us with repeat custom over many years as we build a relationship.

 

Our goal is to advise and work with you as closely as we can so you may add to your own library, collection or just obtain a one off book that you’re interested in acquiring.

 

Prices vary according to the quality, presentation and scarcity of the book, and benchmarked as a mean against various international book sites, such as; www.abe.com  www.adall.com  we follow auction results, catalogue pricing and the international book market very thoroughly and have a good working knowledge of values in our area.
